Girls Night

Every Thursday night, my girl friends and I get together at me and my roomie’s apartment to watch the best show known to all man kind: Project Runway.

I love my girl friends, they’re pretty legit. Not only are they gorgeous, outgoing, funny, always down for a good time… they’re all incredible amounts of smart – we’re a group of friends that met through graduate school… so we’re a group of PhD-aspiring biochemists and organic chemists. Brains and beauty? Damn straight.

Ok, so most of us dress like college scrubs during the week ’cause we’re not exactly going to wear heels and skirts to lab, but we can clean up pretty good if there’s an occasion ;) This was taken at Leslie’s bday. (from left to right: LJ, Sarah, me, Cara, Leslie, and Meg)

We like to throw an occasional theme party or two ;) This was at last year’s ugly sweater party.

And this one is the first picture we all took together, before we even knew each other. It was during TA orientation, back in August of 2008. This is the entire group of 2008 incoming chemists (organic, physical, analytical, and biochemistry).

(I’m in the second from the front row, second from the left, in the white shirt)

It’s weird looking back at this picture because some of these friends have left grad school, a few of my friends aren’t even in the picture (LJ’s bf, a physical chemist), and a lot of us look totally different. I’m totally lucky to have such a great group of friends out here. I wouldn’t still be here if it weren’t for them!

As we embark on the next 2 crazy months of our lives as we prepare and take our oral comprehensive exams, I just want to say I’m so thankful to have you girls to study with… and at least we have our once-a-week Girls Nights to relax and take our minds of science.
