My Dad is the Coolest

My dad is the coolest.

Not only because, well, he’s my dad, but also because he does INCREDIBLE things. Today, he’s flying out to San Francisco to start a 52-day, 3847-mile bicycle journey across America.

He and 34 other riders are starting in San Francisco, crossing over 13 states, averaging 75 miles/day, and ending in Portsmouth, NH on July 27th.

How awesome is that?! Yeah… he never fails to amaze me. He’s had his heart set on riding across America since the 80s, when he rode across Colorado with a friend of his. Since then, he’s been riding his faithful Guru like it’s his job (including riding across all of Indiana and Georgia).

He recently retired from a successful and influential 27 year industrial career in science and this is exactly how he wanted to kick start his “retirement”. (the quotes are necessary because we all know my dad can’t just sit around. He’ll be working or volunteering again somewhere soon :))

The local newspaper recently contacted my pops and interviewed him about his upcoming trip. (How cool! We’re so proud!) The article is online here:

My dad started a blog where he’ll be posting pictures and sharing his experience so family and friends can follow along. If you’re interested in following along too, here’s his blog link:

We’re so proud of you, Dad! I love you and I can’t wait to follow along on this trip of a lifetime!

I agree, he is pretty cool, even without the bike ride. Keep blogging about him so we can follow along!
