#18: Donating my Hair to Locks of Love!

#18 on my list of 24 Things to Do Before Turning 24 (which is tomorrow!)…

I did it! I donated 12″ to Locks of Love!

Here’s the “Before”:

And here’s me now! 12″ chopped off and donated to Locks of Love!

Yay! The short new-do feels great and I really like it! I’ve never had hair this short before (except for when I was 5 and some old guy thought I was a dude, but that’s neither here nor there) but it’s so fun!

Thanks to my mom (and dad!), I’ve been blessed with healthy, strong, shinny hair, so I wanted to pay it forward by donating it. When I turned 23 last August I decided I was going to chop it all off right before my 24th birthday. But honestly, this past week, I was reaaaaal nervous. It’s such a huge change, ya know? But the stylist did a great job and I couldn’t be happier. And it’s for a great cause, so that makes me even happier!

Have you ever donated to Locks of Love? What’s the biggest change you’ve done to your hair before? If you’ve ever thought about chopping it off, I say go for it! Hair grows :)

I love the new ‘do! So chic. I’m so proud of you, what a great thing you did! I’ve never done it because my hair has never been long enough–grows painfully slow. I think it’s wonderful that people donate their hair when they cut it. It looks great! Congrats on crossing another thing off your list!

  2. Love it!! Gorgeous!

Happy Birthday tomorrow!! Do you still have items on your 24 before 24 list? Time is running out! :)

OK, so I already told you I’m no big fan of short hair, but …

    a) I like the way your hair looks now and
    b) I think it’s awesome that you donated your hair.

So you get a :) from me!

Oh I love it, love it, love it! You look great in that cut and what a great cause that you donated to.

I’ve never donated, my hair is usually kept pretty short.
