Spain Trip! (Part 2 of 3)

Making the 35km trip north into Barcelona from Sitges on the train was a breeze. We hopped off the train and emerged onto the sunny, eclectic, crowded Las Ramblas (a huge walking mall that runs all the way to the Mediterranean Sea).
We spent the following 5 days in Barcelona running to all the must-see places (post tomorrow!), and strolling down Las Ramblas, the Barri Gotic (the Gothic Quarter), the Mercat de la Boqueria (a large market), and the docks near the Port de Barcelona.
I love the Barri Gotic. So many artsy shops to poke around in (where we found two pieces of art work to bring back with us!), restaurants everywhere, and the most incredible architecture… like the Catedral de la Santa Creu, built in 13th century. It’s places like these, that make me look up in awe and respect.
Port de Barcelona…
Mercat de la Boqueria…
We ate SO well while in Barcelona. Every meal, a different place. Weez and I aren’t big meat-eaters, but this wasn’t a problem, we just had to look a little harder. Veggi paella, brick oven pizzas, tapas, pasta, ciabatta sandwiches, Turkish falafel, and vino vino vino.
And their coffee? Unmatched by any American coffee I’ve ever had.
One of my 26 Before 26‘s was to “Sip Sangria in Spain”… well folks, after this goblet of sangria, and I can totally check this off my list :) Amazing!

I’m so excited to share the pictures from our days running around Barcelona (quite literally), aka the “Tour de Barcelona”. So stay tuned for the final Trip Recap post tomorrow! Ciao!

Wow! Looks like a fantastic trip and your photos are amazing. I like that you documented to the food too! I did that on my trip to the Netherlands and have a great pic of a waffle with a cathedral in the background. People thought it was weird, but food is one of the best parts of travel so why not remember it?
