A forest in the living room

Weez, Cabo, and I made it to Ohio safe and sound on Thursday after a 24 hour road trip.  I’m thankful we were able to take off a little earlier than scheduled because we outran the storm and stayed ahead of the snow. Unfortunately, my brother and his girlfriend are now driving through the mess, but are slowly (and safely) making their way to us! We hope to see them by late tonight/early tomorrow.

Man, it feels good to be home :)

To give you a feel for our household this year, there are: 8 adults, 1 89-yr old grandma, 1 1.5-yr old, and 4 dogs. So much going on at all times. All living in my parents home. I absolutely love it.

When I first walked into my parents living room, I literally laughed out loud. There’s a giant forest tree in there!
My dad doesn’t mess around with Christmas trees. He goes big. This year is the biggest tree we’ve ever had in my life: 13 feet tall! He had to cut off a few inches from the top so we can get the angel on!

Decorating the tree is a family event, so we’re waiting till my bro and his gf get here :) Can’t wait.

Cabo is loving her doggie cousins. I, too, am loving all the doggie time.photo (1)
Running is going great too. I’ve run both days we’ve been here. Running at sea level, when you’re used to 5400′ is awesome. So. Much. Oxygen.

Things I forgot until running here again: wind coming off Lake Erie is definitely not warm, and humid cold is very different than dry cold.

My long run is 14 tomorrow. I feel like anything over 13 is the real deal when marathon training, and I’m a little nervous about it, but mostly excited.

The fam is going out to a really nice dinner tonight, so I gotta finish getting ready! Ta ta for now! Happy holidays, guys!

Did you travel for the holidays? Are you there yet?
Do you prefer a short and fat, or tall and thin Christmas tree?
