Givin’ it another TRI

It’s been nearly 2 years to the day since I completed my first – and only – triathlon. I had SUCH a blast doing the Greeley Sprint Tri in 2011, but my heart and passion lies in the mountains (trail running). So I haven’t hit the pool for quite a while.

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by the lovely reps at Iron Girl because they wanted to know if I’d be willing to give it another tri and participate in the Cherry Creek Iron Girl Sprint Tri on August 24th, 2013. I said, sure, why not!
Iron Girl Cherry Creek

The pros:
– it’s “just” a sprint tri, which means 1/2 mile Swim — 12 mile Bike — 3 mile Run.
– it’s a triathlon for JUST women so it’s really beginner-friendly!
– fun swag and a post-race breakfast cafe
– it’s in mid-August so you know the weather will be awsome

The con:
Ask me to train for a marathon, and I’m all over it, no prob. Ask me to train for a 1/2 mile swim? I’m terrified. Horrified. But it’ll be a great way to shape up this summer, as well as work on my tan as I swim in our outdoor pool!

In the spirit of full disclosure, Iron Girl sponsored my registration cost (i.e., I didn’t have to pay the $95 registration fee), in return for publicity on my blog. I think I lucked out on this one.

I’m pretty stoked to get back in the pool and on the saddle this summer. This’ll be a fun challenge for myself and I can’t wait to get to training.

10 weeks till race day!!!

Interested in joining me on race day? Iron Girl gave me a discount code to offer you guys*! Use it at check-out and receive $10 off your registration fee!

  • Discount for readers: Coupon Code IGCCEB13 (expires July 1)

*code only valid for the Iron Girl Cherry Creek location event.
*and by “guys” I mean girls.

I prefer the total aversion method of swim training- I only swim on race day. Rest of the time it’s all bike / run. Does this mean I can bug you about biking now?

You sure can! But maybe let’s start with one ride a week, k? :)

You go! Although, I’m admittedly bummed– they contacted me too, but it’s when I’m in AK. It would have been so much fun to do this with you!

Wooohooo Alaska! Your trip is gonna be so sick. I swear one of these days our paths will cross… :)
